Empty toner on Brother HL-L2300D (TN2310/TN2320) - How to reset error message
Is your Brother HL-L2300D (TN2310 / TN2320) displaying a “toner empty” message? This is a very common problem that comes up when using compatible cartridges instead of original ones; however, it does not really mean that the toner is empty or damaged, but only that the printer is unable to recognise it.
If your Brother HL-L2300D has suddenly stopped printing and is displaying this message, you can easily solve it by resetting the printer. To do so, you only have to follow these steps:
How to reset toner TN2310 / TN2320 on Brother HL-L2300D printer
- Remove the orange plastic piece that protects the toner and place it into the drum unit the way you normally do.
- If a ‘Toner Empty’ message is displayed, turn the printer off and remove the toner cartridge. Then shake the toner carefully and insert it again.
- Now press the “GO” button 7 times in a row.
Your toner should now be working properly again. Remember that it is only necessary to replace it when the printing quality is not good: pages with streaks or ink blots, for example, are signs that your printer is running out of toner.
