- Before you start, make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on.
- Lower the paper output tray.
- Open the door that provides access to the ink cartridges, which you'll find at the front of the device itself.
- Wait for the printer carriage to stop before continuing with the process.
- To remove the empty cartridge, press it gently downward, and it will automatically come out of the slot.
- Take the new ink cartridge out of its package, and be careful to only touch the black plastic of the cartridge itself.
- Remove the orange protective plastic tape.
- Place the new ink cartridge into its corresponding slot and push it back until you see that it has clicked into place.
- Remember that the black cartridge goes in the right slot, and the tri-color cartridge goes in the left slot.
- Repeat the above steps if you need to replace the other cartridge.
- Finally, close the door to access the ink cartridges, and you're done.
